We’re back!!! We had an amazing time, truly amazing. We arrived Thursday afternoon and opened with a Nathan’s Famous hot dog with kraut, right there at the airport. After cleaning various mustard mishaps off of our hands and clothes, we excitedly cabbed it to Dot and John’s beautiful apartment, where they generously let us stay…

It’s up to you…New York, New York! Yes, it’s true, I’m off to the Big Apple (sorry, I’ll stop with the cliches) for a long weekend with my minxes, to celebrate our impending 40th birthdays! Suz, Kim, and I are outta here tomorrow morning, staying at my in-laws’ apartment in Manhattan. Dinner with Dot and…

I’m having a passionate affair…with, of all things…eggs. Eggs! I loathed eggs as a child, actively loathed them. I would gag to watch people eat them. Cry to smell them cooking. Shrink in horror from the sight or description of them combined with another loathesome food…cheeeeese. My mom would reminisce fondly about the wonderful tasties…

Nathan officially opened summer vaca with a rock climbing class this a.m. He really enjoyed it. Then he’s off to basketball later this afternoon. We keep him pretty busy in the summers, moving around, doing new and challenging things. It means alot of driving around, but within a pretty small area, so it’s worth it….

Got in a good KBs workout while John was at the club and Nathan walked Sigmund. Soon Nathan and I are off for a lunch of Chinese, followed by X-Men III. John, I guess he’ll chill out here at the hacienda, working or reading. We’ll gather back here this evening for a dinner of garlic…

Sinful Saturday morning, just John and me, hanging, reading, drinking coffee, listening to tunes, chatting…we even had artichokes, garlic toast, and a bit of sauteed ham for brunch. NICE! Eventually I’ll move on to some form of exercise, a shower, and Nathan’s baseball game… But not quite yet. No swimming today, it’s downright chilly out…

Ooooh, killer breakfast, a slice of sauteed ham sandwiched in a warm biscuit, with a cup of strong (albeit decaf) black coffee. Prrrr… There’s an appeal for me in opening the day with simple, rustic food. Not a bad way to start a day, not bad at all. And not a bad way to end…

It’s officially Thursday, although I should be in BED. Just wrapped up Feminine Hijinx with Suz and Kim – another inadvertent double feature, because…we forgot to turn on the mic! Yes, another Feminine HijUnx. Damn. But, hey, you do what you’ve gotta do – we realized our mistake, nibbled some strawberry shortcake, grabbed another beer,…

Siggy-Roo visited Nathan’s classroom this morning and loved every minute of it. Lots of good smells and friendly hands. He handsomely, graciously walked around the circle of children, pausing at each one, to give kisses and receive pats as Nathan explained that Sigs is a 14-year old Gordon Setter who has outlived the average Gordon…

Oh, summer… Swim, grill, friends, family. That was our day today, and it was pretty fabulous. A relaxing morning eased into a major afternoon of swimming with The Browns – Jon, Amy, Will, Sophie, and Zach, as well as Suz and Sullivan, and then Stace and Coop. The Browns and Shuberts headed home, as Bowen…
